About this unit

The online Financial Reporting and Regulation unit, provided by Open Universities Australia and RMIT University, gives you an overview of financial reporting and the regulatory framework in which financial reporting bodies operate. You will learn how to analyse accounting standards and also the legal and stock exchange requirements for Australian corporations.

At the end of this unit, you will have the ability to produce both individual and group reports to a professional standard. This will develop both your research and presentation skills as well as the technical skill required to produce such reports.

Moreover, you will learn to consolidate financial statements and learn to solve practical problems relating to financial reporting. You will also be able to apply this practical knowledge to real life situations, justify your decisions with reference to accounting standards, and effectively communicate your knowledge to relevant stakeholders.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to enter this program:
  • You must have successfully completed Financial Accounting and Business
AND
  • You must be accepted into the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting
OR
  • You must be accepted into the Master of Professional Accounting
