What you'll learn

About this course

The Master of Commerce (Public Accounting) from the University of New England (UNE) is an online program designed for students who want the latest knowledge in public accountancy to improve their job competitiveness and professional standing.

Upon completion of this program, students are eligible to gain membership to the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).

Graduates from this course will be equipped with knowledge of the latest trends and theories in accounting and will learn how to critically reflect upon and apply theory in accounting practice. Students learn to identify complex accounting problems and how to solve them using the latest techniques in research, data collection and synthesis.

This program is also designed for students who already hold a Graduate Certificate in Public Accounting or an undergraduate degree. It provides a flexible pathway for existing IPA members to qualify for professional registration as a tax agent and to meet RG 146 ASIC compliance.

Flexible exit options

If plans change, and you can no longer commit to the full Master of Commerce (Public Accounting), you could still be eligible to receive a postgraduate qualification. Depending on the credit points you've completed, you could exit with a Graduate Certificate in Public Accounting or a Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting.

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as accounting; OR
  • Hold a Graduate Certificate in Public Accounting from UNE or equivalent; AND
