About this course

The Master of Professional Accounting from RMIT offered through Open Universities Australia is ideal for graduates from non-accounting backgrounds who wish to boost their skillset and career prospects with an accounting qualification. The course, which is accredited by CPA Australia and the Institute of Charted Accountants in Australia, will provide students with the practical and theoretical skills to become dynamic and analytical accountants.

By completing this program of study, students can expect to gain an in-depth understanding of topics like business law, corporate finance, taxation law, auditing and managerial economics. The course also has a strong industry-focus, providing students with industry relevant projects, exposure to realistic business dilemmas and giving them the opportunity to solve problems for real clients.

Upon completion of the degree, students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to tackle the emerging demands of the business and broader community. Students should also note that should they successfully complete eight specific units within the Master of Professional Accounting course, they will be eligible to apply for associate membership with CPA Australia, the Institute of Charted Accountants in Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants.

Eligibility

To be eligible to enter this program, applicants must:

  • Hold a nationally-recognised bachelor degree in a business discipline other than accounting with a minimum GPA of 1.0 (out of 4.0)

You may be eligible to receive FEE-HELP for this course!

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
