The online unit, Constraints to Animal Production, considers the issues that limit the production of livestock for both ruminant (sheep and cattle) and monogastric (pigs) animal groups. This is an extremely relevant topic as our global population continues to soar, and there is increased pressure on the need for greater food production.
Having completed this Open Universities Australia and University of New England unit, you will understand the scientific principles of animal production and appreciate the specific factors that limit production, such as climate, nutrition and health.
By studying the unit you will develop the ability to evaluate and ameliorate problems in animal production in a vast range of circumstances. You will also develop skills to review scientific content and understand its application to livestock production.
There are no prerequisites for this unit, so anyone can apply.
This unit is not currently a requirement for any courses, but may be eligible for credit. Content of this unit could qualify you for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for a course offered by another institution.
