The Animal Function, Health and Welfare online unit provided by Open Universities Australia in partnership with the University of New England offers you a complete understanding of the principles of animal welfare, reproduction, diseases and toxicology.
The unit covers the key theoretical concepts of animal welfare and their application to livestock species, and also addresses issues of reproduction and lactation through a range of domestic species.
Students will also learn about immunology and the epidemiology of infectious diseases, particularly for animals of an exotic nature, and examines the various disease prevention strategies used within these environments. The unit also covers the principles of pharmacology and toxicology of major chemical groups used in agriculture.
There are not prerequisites for this unit; so anyone can apply.
