How will this unit advance my career?

By completing this unit, you will develop a commercially applicable understanding of animal-derived products, including major consumer goods like milk, eggs and meat, as well as key raw materials like fibre and wool.

You will be able to demonstrate this knowledge with respect to the Australian livestock industry, and in particular with an understanding of its size, structure and overall nature, to put your expertise to practical use in a commercial setting.

This in turn will prepare you for working in the animal industries, recognising any problems you may face, and identifying opportunities to use alternative animal products to overcome these problems where appropriate.

Your theoretical knowledge will be supported by hands-on practical experience, including some experimentation and dissection, to ease your transition from academia to the working world.

How else will I benefit from this unit?

  • Upon successful completion of this unit you will receive credit for competencies in Animal Production Systems and Products from the University of New England.
  • Studying online means you can study where you want, at your own pace.
  • Gain industry-relevant skills and transferrable knowledge.
  • Government financial support through FEE-HELP may be available.
  • Studying single units allows you the flexibility to work towards a qualification at your own pace.
