The Animal Structure and Function unit, offered by Open Universities Australia and accredited by RMIT University, is a comprehensive introduction to the structure, function and reproduction of vertebrates. The unit plays particular attention to humans, but also addresses a range of animal species.
The unit covers tissues and organs of the vertebrate body, and also covers functions such as the immune system, digestion, nervous system and endocrine organs.
On campus components
Students will be required to complete practical subjects at RMIT University’s Melbourne city campus. This will involve five half days in which students complete practicals such as vertebrate dissection and physiology simulations.
There are no prerequisites for this unit, however it is strongly recommended that you complete the Cell Structure and Function unit prior to enrolment.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
