Architecture Contexts Studio is an online unit, provided by Curtin University and Open Universities Australia, which examines the existing physical and social context of designing buildings. You will consider the nature of practising architecture in various existing contexts, and imagine ways of adding to these environments.
The unit will enhance your ability to produce ideas about buildings as products which mediate between the scale of the location and the scale of the body. In doing so, you will learn to apply modelling skills to record information gathered on sites, and will design a medium scale building with public exposure relating to an existing site.
In addition, you will analyse a related precedent to use as a physical study model, and will present ideas through drawings that deal with both scales of location and body.
