An online undergraduate unit provided by Curtin University and Open Universities Australia, Architecture Design and Technical Integration Studio brings together the disciplines you have explored throughout the Architecture Studio units for the Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science) course. The unit is a co-requisite with Architectural Discourse and Spatial Intelligence Methods, where this studio’s project is communicated via visual, oral and written techniques.
Throughout this unit you will incorporate Work Integrated Learning (WIL) through design activity taking place on sites, in workshop situations and through simulation of real-world projects, encouraging interaction with the architectural industry and community. Drawing on the skills you have developed throughout the course, you will integrate developed ideas and services into the built form and envelope and build strategies for applying constructional, servicing, organisational and environmental systems and processes.
You will also study the design and development of buildings of medium scale, complexity and rise, while investigating contexts and relationships between site and building. The unit is assessed by a combination of investigation, design work and production of a reflective publication on your project.

Architecture Design and Technical Integration Studio is the summation of the architecture studio units for the Bachelor of Applied Science, helping you to apply the skills and disciplines you have developed throughout your study of architectural science. For those who wish to take their studies further, it is also a prerequisite for entry onto the Master of Architecture course, also provided through Curtin University and Open Universities Australia.
On completion of this unit, you will be able to predict potential architectural problems, evaluating associated key issues and creating a hypothetical solution that could be applied to a real-world situation. You will also learn how to apply strategies and systems to aid the development of a resolved architectural proposition.
A foundation in architectural science and design is a highly desirable skill that can open a wide range of career opportunities. Graduates have found employment in construction, scientific and technical services, public administration, safety and health care and social assistance, plus a variety of other job roles within the private and public sector.
