Take the first step towards building a better world with the online or on-campus Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of New England (UNE), a degree that's fully recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia.
This course covers the issues, perspectives and values involved in designing spaces for a more liveable, sustainable future. With a broad focus on urban and regional development factors, from ecological aspects to cultural and community considerations, this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to work in planning and development in a wide range of industries.
This course has a compulsory work experience component to ensure that you graduate with the practical skills you need to succeed in the workforce. With a strong theoretical background that includes areas of study such as climate change, population geography and resource management, this course will equip you with the right tools to make a real difference in a rapidly changing world.
This course includes a mandatory work placement component to ensure that you graduate with a strong mix of practical industry experience that complements your learning. You will be required to complete 12 weeks of placement, in consultation with the School.
If plans change, and you can no longer commit to the full Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, you could still be eligible to receive a qualification. Depending on the credit points you've completed, you could exit with the Diploma in Town Planning or the Advanced Diploma in Arts.
To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of New England.
Graduates can opt to seek employment in positions in local and state government, private consulting firms, development companies or public or private workplaces relating to urban affairs, environmental management, transport, community development, heritage conservation, regional prosperity and related fields.
Graduates are eligible for membership of the Urban and Regional Planning Chapter of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Eligible students can apply for HECS-HELP to cover the upfront costs of all or part of your fees. Alternatively, you can pay annually for the units you select to study in that year.
The University of New England also offers a number of scholarships to successful applicants.
This course can be paid for through the HECS-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).Find out more about government study loans here.
