Whether you're a wannabe Francophile or looking to enhance your employment options, the Diploma in Modern Languages from the University of New England (UNE) is the language course for you.
In this course, you'll gain proficiency in one language, choosing from Chinese, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Japanese or Spanish. In addition, you'll develop fluency in the culture, context and customs of your language, setting you up with a competitive and cultural advantage in both work and travel.
You may choose to work overseas after completing this course, or simply enjoy the challenge, satisfaction and personal growth of learning a new language.
If you come from a teaching background, this course gives you the option to add your language as an additional teaching area.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised Diploma in Modern Languages from the University of New England.

Eligible students can apply for HECS-HELP to cover the upfront costs of all or part of your fees.
The University of New England also offers a number of scholarships to successful applicants.
This course can be paid for through the HECS-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).Find out more about government study loans here.
