In Swinburne University’s online Study Research Methods unit, you will look at the theory and practice involved in undertaking research, surveys and other data collection methods. You will look at how to conduct surveys from start to finish. All aspects of different research methods will be looked at, from quantitative and qualitative methods to questionnaire design and analysis.
The ethics of research methods will also be taught, as individual data collection can be a sensitive area. You will learn about the different types of data, from univariate to bivariate and how to analyse it, correlate it, cross-table it and finally present it as statistical findings.

Upon finishing this unit you will be able to tailor appropriate research questions to help address management issues and social problems, conduct different sorts of data collection and then analyse the collected data in order to answer your question.
You will also possess secondary research abilities, know how to conduct fieldwork interviews, design impartial or unbiased research, be familiar with different research techniques and write a business report describing the outcomes of your research.
