About this unit

This Visual Culture unit explores the ways in which visual culture shapes our cultural experience on an aesthetic level, with equal significance in the social and economic spheres.

Offered online through Griffith University, this unit examines various practices of visual culture, including visual arts, film and television, fashion, mass media, photography and advertising.

Developing a critical appreciation and understanding of visual culture, you will explore the manner in which visual languages have changed across historical and contemporary contexts up to the current day.

Eligibility

Applicants must be accepted into one of the following courses in order to enrol in this unit:

  • Graduate Certificate in Communication, Griffith University
  • Master of Communication, Griffith University

You must also have successfully completed, be currently enrolled in or intending to enrol in the following units:

  • Introducing Communication Studies
  • Communication Research Skills

You must also ensure you have not completed a previous version of this unit.
