About this course

Equip yourself with the tools to start a new and exciting career as the owner or manager of a salon with this comprehensive online Diploma of Salon Management (SIB50210) course. Offered by Ivy College, you will be able to work through units of study online, and develop an understanding of workplace policy, human resources management, customer service and retention, marketing, staff recruitment, training and development, business planning and financial management.

Work placement

As a part of this course, students are required to complete 10 hours of work placement at a suitable beauty clinic or salon. Students' work should be overseen by a suitably qualified workplace supervisor - an professional who holds a Diploma of Beauty Therapy or has at least five years of clinical experience. Ivy College will help students find a suitable work placement to satisfy this essential component of the course.


To enrol in diploma and advanced diploma courses with Ivy College, you will need the ability to read and write English to at least Year 12 level. 

To show evidence of this ability, you will need to have satisfied the following:

  • During the enrolment process, demonstrate that you have the skills and capability to succeed in the course at least to the level of Year 12 by providing a copy of your Australian year 12 certificate, or completing the Diploma Entry Test.

All students are also required to have a unique email address and access to a computer with an internet connection.
