About this unit

As an online undergraduate unit provided by Curtin University and Open Universities Australia, Cost Management introduces a variety of advanced principles, processes and techniques for effective cost planning in the construction industry. By studying this unit, you will develop skills in the use of cost planning software, techniques of cost modelling, and effectively build on principles and practices studied in preceding units.

Upon completion of this unit, you will be able to evaluate, manipulate and apply appropriate cost data and compare costs for alternative design solutions. You will also engage in a critical appraisal of the value of various cost management processes and learn how to present a fully realised cost plan.

The unit is delivered via a range of learning methods and materials, including standard media, online assignment submission and testing and use of discussion boards and web links. Assessments take the form of an assignment in value management study, a case study and a reflective task.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to enter this program:

  • Successful completion of the unit, Cost Planning

  • Acceptance into the Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management)
