Quality in Construction is an online unit provided by Open Universities Australia in association with Curtin University. The unit’s central focus is on providing you with a multi-disciplinary understanding of how quality is measured in the construction trade, adhering to the standards set out by construction associations. On completion of the unit, you will able to interpret and communicate these principles, in order to employ them in a professional context.
To begin with, you will learn how to define and explain quality in terms of the construction industry through studying its background and history. Following this, you will explore the basics of quality improvement, with regard to customers, processes and systems. Additionally, you will cover the more technical aspects of the building trade such as ISO 9000, ISO 9001, and Lean Six Sigma.
Ultimately, upon completion of this unit, you will have an intimate understanding of the approved ways of defining and measuring quality within construction projects. Equipped with this knowledge, you will be able to ensure the consistent up-keep of quality across the projects you work on in your professional career.
There are no prerequisites for this unit; level 3 units assume a moderate level of prior knowledge in this area. In order to enrol in this unit, you must be accepted into the following course:
