About this unit

Prepare yourself for a career in construction or management by gaining a comprehensive knowledge of the theory and practice behind residential construction. In this Residential Construction unit, you will learn basic physics theory and how to apply it to building science, including the impact of heat, light, movement and weight on construction.

Provided by Open Universities Australia in partnership with Curtin University, you will get outside to conduct fieldwork and analyse the physical performance of different materials in domestic buildings. Learn all the properties of different building materials and how to apply them expertly in residential construction.

You’ll also cover the physics and practical application of floors, windows, roofs, stairs, electrics and plumbing within residential construction.
