About this unit

Completion of this Open Universities Australia and Curtin University unit will help you gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of operations management, and the core role it plays in organisations across industries. While studying Managing Operations, you will gain an awareness of the variation between operations in accordance with industry type and sector. This unit will also encourage you to consider differences in operations across cultures, and on an international scale.

During this online unit you will discuss the hot topic of sustainability, and gain an understanding of how operations can be designed to incorporate concepts of sustainability in order to promote a competitive advantage. You will also consider the synergetic relationship between business strategy and operations management.

This online unit covers a wide range of important business management topics, including product and service design, quality management, supply chain management, and project management. During this unit you will develop an understanding of operations management from a cross-industry, multinational perspective. Partake in discussions relating to the trends and challenges in Managing Operations, and augment your knowledge of the importance and extent of innovation, quality and knowledge management in operational performance. You will acquire knowledge of operations management in light of conceptual, analytical and practical factors, and will be able to discuss Managing Operations coherently in layman's terms, as well as at an academic level.
