Work placement

Students will be required to complete a minimum 100-hour work placement in a community services organisation. Students should note that they may be required to undergo a Working with Children Check.


To be eligible to apply for this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Provide proof that they have successfully completed Year 12 in Australia; OR
  • Hold at least a certificate IV in any discipline*; OR
  • Achieve an Exit Level 3 or above score within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in reading and numeracy

* This option is not available for students who wish to apply for a VET FEE-HELP loan.

This course can be paid for through the VET FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
