The unit gives students an overview of counselling practice and theory in relation to their application in social work and human services. Covering many areas of interest, the unit provides students with the counselling skills they need to help a diverse range of clients. This is achieved through a close study of counselling theory and development of practical therapeutic skills.
Students will learn about counselling frameworks, integrative therapy, and counselling micro-skills, among other topics. This knowledge can then be applied in a career in social work or a related field.
