In Curtin University’s online Animation and Special Effects Compositing unit you will learn how to bring together different visual elements into a moving video image. Special effects and animations are often used in advertising, movies, television, interactive web content and training simulation software, and this unit will familiarise you with industry standards and best practice.
You will learn techniques such as image tracking, blue screening, colour matching and other industry standard animation skills. These, combined with the teaching of storytelling, sound design, different visual styles and other animation techniques, come together in a rich and diverse unit.

When you have finished this unit you will know how to create complex computer animations and special effects using a variety of different vis-ual sources. You will have up to date, industry standard knowledge in the creation, layering and filtering of imagery suitable for compositing and will be able to create original material which will be suitable for professional use. The various assessments will test your ability in these fields and finally this unit, when completed, will give you sought-after professional ani-mation and special effects skills.
