What is beauty? What makes a piece of artwork beautiful?
This online unit in Perspectives on Beauty is designed to critically interrogate these very questions, and aims to dissect historical and contemporary perspectives on ‘beauty’.
Offered by Open Universities Australia in conjunction with Curtin University, the unit is a helpful program of study for designers and art students interested in developing a more discerning eye and the analytical skills to deduce what constitutes ‘beautiful’ art.
Through art discourse and philosophies of aesthetics, students explore topics such as biological beauty, beautiful landscapes and commercial beauty to gain a greater appreciation for beauty in varying contexts and historical movements in art.
