About this course

The Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree has been designed for people who wish to teach at primary school level.

OUA students can freely enrol in eight of the program's first year units, either to 'dip' into the education discipline, or (with their university's approval) to use these units as electives in another program. However, the remaining units in the program are restricted. To continue working towards the Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree, students must apply for a place in the program and meet specific eligibility criteria.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Have achieved a minimum ATAR of 70.00, including a 50% minimum in English, or equivalent

AND

  • Provide current Working With Children and Police Clearance check documentation

There is a large practical component to this program and students will be required to spend 80 days in school placements throughout their studies. The program culminates in a final internship of 10 weeks, where students assume responsibility for a class of children under the supervision of an experienced teacher.
