About this course

The online Bachelor of Education (Secondary) (English) course, offered by Charles Sturt University, provides an entry point for students who have previously acquired knowledge in the subject area of English, but who wish to pursue teaching as a career.

The online study program adopts a multidisciplinary approach to education, allowing you to draw from your specialised skills base and apply this knowledge within the context of the high-school classroom.

Gain an all-round education that includes concepts of pedagogy and curriculum design as you develop the skills required to teach Years 7 to Year 12 in your chosen discipline.

In this stream of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary), you will learn to apply and extend your knowledge of English within a classroom setting, focusing on study areas including English literature, texts and meaning and other elective subjects of your choosing.

You’ll learn how to effectively monitor and assess student progress, make use of learning techniques and technologies appropriate to your field, and to engage professionally with students, staff and the broader school community.

You will enter this program with between 72 and 88 credit points, allowing you to complete this course in 3-3.65 years on a full-time study loading, or 5-5.5 years part-time.
