About this course

Work placement

Students are required to complete 240 hours of practical placement as a part of this course, and will need to gain a Working With Children Check.


To be eligible to enrol in this course you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years or older (prospective students who are aged 16-18 years must have parental consent to enrol); AND
  • Have completed Year 12 in Australia and provide a copy of your senior certificate of education; OR
  • Hold a Certificate IV or higher in any discipline; OR
  • Be assessed as competent at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Exit Level 3 or above for reading and numeracy

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised, accredited CHC50113 - Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care from Conwal and Associates (RTO 31190) trading as Conwal Institute.

Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011), at least 50 per cent of educators working with children under the age of five must be hold, or be working towards, at least a diploma level qualification. So by completing this course, you'll give yourself a significantly better chance at gaining immediate employment with childcare agencies, centres and pre-schools.
