About this course

The Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (TAE50111) TAFE course covers the advanced skills and knowledge required by experienced practitioners in the VET sector, particularly within registered training organisations (RTOs).

The course is delivered by The Gordon through a blend of monthly face-to-face workshops, combined with weekly webinars to maximise your learning opportunities. As you work your way through the syllabus you will develop the skills needed to lead other assessors, and to mentor new assessors.

The course will also teach you to design new approaches to learning and assessment strategies across a significant area within an RTO.

Assessment will take the form of:

  • Written assignments
  • Group presentation

Eligibility

To be eligible for this course, you must meet the following entry requirements:

  • You must have completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) or have equivalent skills.
  • You must have a minimum of six months' experience working as a trainer and assessor in the VET sector.
  • You must have access to a VET environment in which you facilitate group-based training and assess competence.
  • You must have completed Year 12 and be able to demonstrate that you possess the appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy skills, or undertake an independent assessment test to ensure your level of competence meets Year 12 level.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be available for skills and knowledge obtained through previous study or other relevant experience.

All course fees at The Gordon are comprised of tuition, student amenities, and materials costs. Depending on your personal circumstances, you may fall into one of the following fee categories:

  • Standard - you meet the eligibility criteria for access to the government subsidised Victorian Training Guarantee (VTG).
  • Concession - you meet the VTG eligibility criteria AND hold a current healthcare or pension card.
  • Full-fee paying/Fee for Service (FFS) - you do not meet the VTG eligibility criteria
