About this unit

This online Open Universities Australia and Macquarie University unit gives students the opportunity to complete a mentored Early Childhood Postgraduate Internship. You will develop your confidence and sense of independence as a teacher, which will allow you to make professional decisions in response to daily challenges.

You will develop an understanding of the role you will play as a teacher both in the community, and in the lives of individual students, colleagues, and families. By familiarising yourself with your role, you will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to allow you to work with children, parents, and colleagues in a collaborative manner in order to provide the best possible learning experience for your students.

You will build on your knowledge of childhood pedagogy, and develop a practical understanding of your existing theoretical knowledge. You will also explore how young children learn in indoor environments, and how this differs and compares to how they learn in outdoor environments.

Eligibility

To be eligible to enrol, applicants must have successfully completed the following units:

  • Early Childhood Professional Practice 1
  • Early Childhood Professional Practice 2

Applicants must also be accepted into the following course:

  • Master of Teaching (Birth to Five Years), Macquarie University
