About this unit

This Education: The Psychological Context unit offered by Open Universities Australia and Macquarie University gives you an introductory look at the field of educational psychology. You will explore the ways in which theories and concepts from the field of psychology can be applied within the context of teaching and learning.

You will gain a basic level of understanding of the large area of developmental psychology. This will include learning about how physical, personal, social and moral development influence learning, as well as how the development of language skills plays a role. Much of the knowledge you will gain from this unit will help you to understand how students learn.

You will also explore the teaching side of educational psychology. This includes classroom management practices, and how teachers can motivate their students. You will also be expected to consider how what you learn in this online unit applies to you and your experience of learning.
