About this unit

Provided by Curtin University and Open Universities Australia, Improving Practice through Action Learning and Research teaches the principles of action learning in producing fresh approaches to a range of educational issues and needs. In this unit, you will learn how to utilise action research methodologies to gain valuable insights into the teaching and learning environment, and apply appropriate methods of theoretical thinking into everyday practice.

Understanding how to facilitate action learning gives you the tools to help groups of people engage in a positive and effective way to achieve mutual goals. Through studying a range of research methodologies and their practical application, you will develop a greater understanding of how people learn and work together through tackling issues and reflecting on their actions.

You will learn how to examine unit evaluations to identify areas of improvement – either in teaching practice or in the student experience. You will also explore how to use appropriate action research methodologies to implement learning projects that address specific issues or needs, and evaluate the results to further modify and improve the process.
