The Master of Inclusive Education course offered by Charles Sturt University will build on your special needs skills to turn you into an effective teacher and program developer of inclusive education.
Designed for graduates with qualifications in human development services like teaching, speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology and nursing, this course gives you the skills required to teach, consult, collaborate, advocate and evaluate in an inclusive service delivery model.
Subjects within the course are designed to not only develop personal ability, but cultivate collaborative problem-solving skills and impart a solid understanding of individual contexts within educational settings.
You will have the opportunity to tailor your studies through three pathways – teaching, leadership and project – enabling you to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to develop effective programs in your current or future work environment.
Applicants must meet the criteria to be eligible to enter this program:
Have already attained basic training in special education equivalent to a fourth year specialisation or graduate diploma in inclusive education
Have completed a Bachelor of Education or equivalent
Have completed a teriatry qualification in teaching, speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy or nursing, or equivalent
Have access to people with disabilities for the completion of practical exercises
Applications for distance education and postgraduate courses are accepted all year round. Provided you are eligible for admission, your application will be held for consideration in the next available intake.
Practical work placement
Students will spend several sessions working with the families of students with special needs and are required to utilise appropriate family support strategies.

If you choose not to study the entire Master of Inclusive Education degree you may be able to complete an alternative program. This is beneficial for students who need to develop a specialisation or who prefer not to commit to the whole study period.

This course can be paid for through the HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP government loan schemes. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
