Designed to help teachers deliver exceptional teaching in the foundational areas of mathematics and science, this in-depth education course will give you the practical skills and conceptual understanding to craft positive and creative learning experiences.
You’ll gain knowledge and training in the use of information technology in classroom learning, educational concerns related to the use of computers and how this impacts the teacher's role, and the use of multimedia and the Internet in schools.
You’ll also have the opportunity to put your comprehensive study of research methodologies to good use through small-scale research projects investigating classroom and learning dynamics.
Applicants require a four-year university qualification and recognised teaching experience to enrol in this program.
Applicants may be eligible for recognition of previous studies and/or experience.
In this science and mathematics education program, the subjects you will study include:
Open Universities courses are offered in specific study intakes every year, known as Study Periods or Sessions. This means more flexibility as you can choose when to start studying.
If you are studying undergraduate units you can start at the beginning of any of the four Study Periods each year, each lasting 13 weeks. Most postgraduate courses are offered in three Sessions per year, with each Session lasting 14 weeks.
Exams are usually held in the week following the end of each Study Period or Session.
