About this course

This Master of Teaching (Primary) is an initial teaching qualification, providing you with the professional preparation needed to become a primary school teacher, or to work in a career with a primary education focus.

Students will cover a variety of subjects, including, but not limited to: transition to teaching, numeracy, literacy, mathematics, English, Science, and diversity and inclusion.

Murdoch University offers this course both online and on-campus, with part-time and full-time study options. It is available to graduates who hold a bachelor's degree in a non-education field relevant to primary teaching.


To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Completed a bachelor's degree, with a minimum of one year of full-time equivalent study relevant to one or more of the following areas: English, Mathematics, the Arts, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education; AND
  • Hold a minimum of a credit average in the bachelor's degree; AND
  • Attend an interview.

Eligible students can apply for a FEE-HELP loan to cover the upfront costs of all or part of your fees.

Alternatively, you can pay annually for the units you choose to study in that year.

Murdoch University also offers a number of scholarships to successful applicants.

You may be eligible to receive FEE-HELP for this course!

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
