About this unit

This online unit from Open Universities Australia and Curtin University has been designed specifically for early childhood educators interested in specialising in the pre-primary/kindergarten bracket.

The unit will help you develop a number of enquiry-based approaches to developing lesson plans and education programs for the early years of schooling, and will also train you to effectively deliver curriculum content to children aged 4-6 years.

Through an examination of classroom management, learning environments and teaching strategies, you will also learn how to create classroom environments that foster social skills, proactive learning and creative thinking to help young students flourish.

The unit also includes a practical component, which involves a five-week placement in a pre-primary/kindergarten setting.

Eligibility

You must already have been accepted into the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) prior to enrolling. The following prerequisite unit must also be completed before commencing:
