Offered by Curtin University through Open Universities Australia, Science and Mathematics Education Research Methods is an online unit offering you an in-depth understanding of the research process within an educational setting.
You will undertake four modules which explore the characteristics of educational research and different research paradigms used in this setting. This unit will also take you through the diverse range of research methodologies and systems used in educational investigations, and the ethics and role of the educational researcher in this process.
You will also critically self-reflect on how your views of educational research have been challenged during this unit.

Upon completion of this unit, you will have an in-depth understanding of the educational research process.
You will be able to evaluate the three major research paradigms in educational research and explain how they influence the research process. You will also be able to critically evaluate the characteristics of different research methodologies and research methods, and apply this information to conceptualise a research design, while understanding your ethical obligations, relationships and responsibilities as the research.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
