This Civil Engineering Practice online unit from the University of South Australia is themed around the construction and design of sustainable buildings. You will be taught about the use of sustainable construction materials, green building design, the analysis of building design, and how to use structural analysis software.
The first section of this unit introduces you to the specialisations within the civil engineering profession. This offers you an overview of the civil engineering industry and the variety of roles to which you can apply the knowledge learned in this unit.
The second section of this unit introduces you to the use of sustainable construction materials and green building design. This section offers practical insight into the building design analysis process and the behaviour of structures. You will also be taught how to apply the concepts of limit states design, load determination, and load paths to the design of building structures.
The final section of the unit will introduce you to the use of building information modelling software.
