Engineering Design and Innovation is a fully online unit from Open Universities Australia and the University of South Australia. This unit has been designed to cover both the creative and entrepreneurial elements of the engineering profession.
Throughout this unit you will gain a detailed insight into all of the design processes, including the development of the initial concept, testing and evaluation, and problem solving. This unit also aims to develop your project management skills and to extend your knowledge of key business principles.

This unit will equip you with practical knowledge and skills useful for a career in design engineering. On successful completion of this unit you will have acquired an in-depth knowledge of the design process, have a sound understanding of occupational health and safety practices, and be able to work through design faults.
Apart from learning the key design processes, you will also develop core skills, such as project management and teamwork. Your written communication and oral presentation abilities will also be evaluated. These skills, along with creative flair and a good understanding of the profession’s business practices, will be invaluable in any career path.

This course can be paid for through the HECS-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
