About this unit

An online undergraduate unit provided by the University of South Australia, Engineering Dynamics helps you to develop a foundation in the dynamic analysis of mechanical systems through modelling and analysing the motion of particles and rigid bodies. You will build a fundamental understanding of how mechanical systems work from an engineering perspective, and learn how to clearly and concisely present your work in a written format. Delivered online by Open Universities Australia, the unit provides a solid foundation in how to define and solve problems in engineering dynamics.

On completion of this unit you will be able to apply a range of techniques to analyse circular, angular and planar motion, utilise a variety of methodologies for analysing kinetics and motion, and explain the essential concepts and principles of engineering dynamics. The unit is delivered via a range of teaching methods and materials, including online assessment and assignment submission, discussion forums, audio/video streaming and print-based materials. Assessment takes the form of an assignment, an invigilated exam, a practical assessment and a quiz.

This course can be paid for through the HECS-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
