Offered by University of South Australia through Open Universities Australia, the online engineering unit Mathematical Methods for Engineers 2 equips you with concrete mathematical skills relevant to working as an engineer.
You will learn mathematical methods spanning linear algebra, the solution of ordinary differential equations and techniques of integration, gaining the capacity to, for instance, formulate simple applied problems using mathematical language, and use the principles of differential and integral calculus and linear algebra in the solution of problems selected from engineering situations.
This unit also covers the properties of vectors and matrices and linear systems of equations including matrix multiplication, inverses, determinants and eigenvalues and vectors of square matrices, while MATLAB software will also be used to solve simple applied problems.

Applications of integration in mechanics, area, volume, centre of mass, moment of intertia, work
Linear differential equations of second order, homogenous and inhomogenous equations
