About this unit

Road Safety Engineering is the perfect unit to prepare you for a role in road safety engineering, auditing and management. In this Open Universities Australia and University of South Adelaide unit, you’ll learn both the theories of road safety the industry practices that maintain them.

Once you’ve developed a sound knowledge of road safety theory and the causes and types of traffic accidents, you will learn to classify accidents and utilise databases. With knowledge of accident classification and hazard theory, you’ll learn to evaluate roads for hazardous locations and potential safety issues.

Finally, you will learn to engineer and implement countermeasures to road safety hazards. Upon completion of the unit, you’ll be adept at producing impact assessments and road safety audits containing professional countermeasure suggestions.
