This online Sustainable Engineering Practice unit from Open Universities Australia and the University of South Australia introduces students to the essential skills needed for sustainable professional practice in the field of engineering.
Through a combination of course work, project work and interaction with industry, students study the role of the professional engineer, characteristics of modern engineering and historical and modern trends. Students also learn the key graduate attributes of a range of engineering professionals, career management skills, critical analysis, reflective practice, principles of sustainable engineering, professional ethics and principles of sustainable development.
This unit focuses on effective teamwork, team roles, evaluation of team performance, locating and using information and referencing, engineering report writing and effective presentations, encouraging students to develop the necessary building blocks for a successful engineering career.
