About this unit

Learn about the reporting systems associated with energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in this highly current Open Universities Australia and Murdoch University unit. You will become familiar with the standards and requirements for Energy and Greenhouse Reporting, and will acquire the skill set necessary to meet these standards over the course of this online unit.

You will also become familiar with the principles of energy and mass, and will develop the understanding necessary to conduct a simple energy-mass balance. Upon completion of this unit, you will be prepared to guide others through the process of carrying out a greenhouse gas inventory, and will be competent in estimating and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.

You will become familiar with the concepts of carbon pricing and emissions trading, and will be in turn be able to explain the fundamentals of these ideas. You will also have acquired an understanding of greenhouse gas abatement, and will be able to identify options for abatement, and to estimate the costs of doing so.

In order to enrol in this unit, you must have been accepted into one of the following courses:

  • Graduate Diploma in Energy and the Environment, Murdoch University
  • Graduate Diploma in Energy Studies, Murdoch University
