Individual Project is an online unit provided by Open Universities Australia in association with Curtin University. Its central aim is to provide students of sustainability and climate policy studies with the research skills necessary to complete successful reporting in this field. Students may choose to work independently or collaboratively, and are tasked with finding a research question that specifically appeals to them.
To begin with, students will be asked to find a topic that is appropriate in terms of scale, and clearly define some research questions with which to approach the topic. Following this, students will independently develop a deep understanding of this area, before conducting their own secondary research to answer their key questions.
Ultimately, this unit arms students with the confidence and ability to conduct their own climate and sustainability research. If approached successfully, Individual Project is among the most rewarding units available, as well as the most attractive to employers in the field.
