About this unit

This online Open Universities Australia and Murdoch University unit offers the opportunity to become familiar with the highly contemporary topic of Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development. Sustainable development is key in ensuring that the needs of current populations in developing countries are met without compromising the needs of future generations.

By studying this unit you will acquire the practical skills necessary to assess the potential of renewable energy technologies in particular settings, and obtain an understanding of how they can be introduced successfully. You will also discuss the key factors and challenges that must be overcome in order to implement renewable technologies in less developed countries. Emphasis will be placed on financing, planning, and assessment of needs.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to enter this program:

  • Acceptance into the Graduate Diploma in Energy Studies

AND

  • Have completed 18 credit points (6 OUA units) at level 1

It is also recommended that you have completed the following units or have equivalent knowledge:
