About this unit

Offered by Curtin University through Open Universities Australia, Topics in Sustainability is an online unit that provides you with a comprehensive overview of key sustainability issues at local and global levels, and the complex relationships between these issues.

You will explore a wide range of topics within the context of sustainability, including climate change, population and development, food and water, and waste and living simply.

Through individual and collaborative exercises, you’ll learn to critically evaluate issues of social justice and responsibility in light of sustainability goals, and understand expert information through the lenses of social, biological, cultural and economic interdependence of global life.

You will also learn to effectively communicate issues in sustainability, and create innovative policy solutions through the application of research skills, practical experience and understanding beyond a single discipline.

In order to enrol in this unit, you must be accepted into one of the following courses:

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
