About this unit

Study Engineering Economic Analysis with Open Universities Australia and the University of South Australia to develop a in-depth understanding of the principles of financial accounting, and the application of financial concepts and techniques to the manufacturing industry. Acquire valuable analytical skills during this unit, as well as an understanding of how they can be applied in order to assess value and costs.

Learn to analyse financial statements and performance, and to critically evaluate fixed and variable costs. A portion of the unit will be dedicated to exploring the concepts involved in multi-attribute analysis. The all-important area of risk analysis will also receive attention.

Familiarise yourself with the financial and economic terminology relevant to project management in manufacturing, including indirect costs, product costs, depreciation, decision tree analysis and internal rates of return. You will also become familiar with major economic principles and theories, such as utility theory.
