About this unit

This online Financial Markets unit from RMIT University and Open Universities Australia introduces students to the main financial markets in Australia and in an international context.

Students study the nature, main components and functions of the financial system, the role of financial markets and the role and determinants of the structure and level of interest rates.

Through a combination of online discussion and written assessments, students learn to explain and demonstrate terminology relevant to the field, outline and describe the main features of various markets and understand these features in a global financial context. This overview is vital in providing context for undertaking more advanced units.
