About this unit

In this Quantitative Methods in Finance unit, provided by Open Universities Australia and RMIT University online, you will gain an understanding of the main quantitative methods used in relation to finance. You will become familiar with models such as derivative pricing models and the Markowitz Portfolio model, giving you a well-rounded overview of the subject area.

Furthermore, you will learn how to use one of the main tools in this area, Excel, to partake in quantitative modelling, and how to use a wide range of mathematical functions. In addition, you will learn how different methods are used in the mathematics of finance to produce results.

You will come to understand how important the application of calculus in this area is and understand the main principles of probability theory. In addition, you will learn many other key aspects vital to the understanding of quantitative methods in finance, and gain many useful practical skills that will enhance your career in mathematics, finance or any relevant commercial environment.
