About this course

By earning your Diploma of Fitness (SIS50215) you will be headed on your way to working as a specialised fitness trainer. This course focuses on making sure you obtain all the skills and knowledge you need to continue to advance your career in the fitness industry.

Throughout the duration of this program you will learn how to address client needs, provide advanced first aid, advise on injury prevention and management, deliver prescribed exercise to clients and implement high-performance training. These key competencies will prepare you for the many potential working environments and job opportunities available within this industry.

Work placement

Students will also be required to complete a work placement with rehabilitation professional and work on 10 real-life client case studies.

Eligibility

For entry into this program you must meet the following requirements:

  • Provide a copy of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (i.e. a Year 12 qualification); OR
  • Achieve an Exit Level 3 score and be working at Level 4 within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in reading and numeracy; AND
  • Show capability to be successful in the course; AND
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Fitness (SIS40210) or have completed the relevant units of competency and hold a current First Aid certificate; AND
  • Have at least 12 months of registered industry experience

This course can be paid for through the VET FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
