About this unit

Learn about the art of policy-making in Australia. This online unit, provided by Open Universities Australia and Macquarie University, will help you understand and think critically about the policy-making process, with particular emphasis on Australian politics.

You will examine public policy literature from a wide variety of sources, as well as a number of case studies specific to Australia, such as Indigenous policy and environmental policy. You will also learn about the policy cycle with reference to the Abbott Government.

The unit raises issues such as the role of the state and the distribution of power in the development, implementation and evaluation of public policy. By studying Australian Public Policy you will gain skills in political awareness, critical thinking, writing, research and analysis.

Eligibility

You cannot enrol in this unit if you have completed any unit deemed academically equivalent.
