Kick off a rewarding career in exercise physiology with this Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology at the University of New England (UNE).
This course is designed to help you acquire an in-depth understanding of the scientific theory of sports science and practical hands-on application of exercise prescription.
Encompassing both the physiological and psychological responses to exercise in healthy individuals as well as those with chronic or more complex health conditions, this course will help you become an expert in exercise-based rehabilitation.
Offered online or on campus, you will be well prepared for a fulfilling career in the growing health and wellness sector. As well as the opportunity to take control of your own career path by setting up a private clinic or consultancy, qualified exercise physiologists can make a significant difference to the lives of others in various settings, from hospitals and workplaces to specialised clinical sciences, such as cardiac, respiratory or sleep technology.
This course allows you to undertake an optional Honours year for students who would like to extend the depth and breadth of their undergraduate studies. Completing Honours studies helps improve your problem-solving and research skills, and demonstrates a more wide-ranging understanding of your chosen discipline to prospective employers.
High-achieving students with a GPA that meets the eligibility criteria for this course may be able to complete an additional one-year degree program, and graduate with a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology with Honours.
This course includes a mandatory work placement component to ensure that you graduate with a strong mix of practical industry experience that complements your learning. You will be required to complete 500 hours of placement, in consultation with the School.

This course assumes a prior knowledge of English and mathematics, with previous studies in biology, chemistry, physics and/or health and physical education also recommended.
Student are also expected to hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate, obtained through an accredited, WorkCover-approved provider prior to the first trimester.
You may be eligible for advanced standing if your previous education and experience meet certain criteria.

Eligible students can apply for HECS-HELP to cover the upfront costs of all or part of your fees. Alternatively, you can pay annually for the units you select to study in that year.
The University of New England also offers a number of scholarships to successful applicants.
This course can be paid for through the HECS-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, this means you don’t need to pay upfront.
